People are moving to Vermont and bringing their families with them. Applications have been rolling in for reimbursement of moving expenses through the Remote Worker Grant Program. Commissioner of Economic Development Joan Goldstein reports that so far 30 applications have been approved, with the average grant being approximately $3,600. Over 70 people have relocated to Vermont, settling in towns like Colchester, Montpelier, Bennington, Burlington, and Strafford. These new Vermonters hail from as close as New York and Connecticut to as far away as Florida and California.
Recently Seven Days caught up with a few of these newly relocated remote workers. They’ve been here long enough now that their kids have gotten over their initial delight about the snow, but otherwise they are happy to be here. Read more.
