

Jen and John Kimmich, owners of legendary Vermont brewery The Alchemist, and creators of the internationally ranked Heady Topper, know a thing or two about NOT scaling up a business. The pair run the brewery at its full capacity of 20,000 barrels per year, with no plans to increase output. The current business model, with 52 well-paid employees with great benefits and almost no turnover, is small enough to be manageable, and successful enough to make a difference in the lives of those employees and the community. And that’s exactly where the Kimmichs want it to stay.
